ABOUT THE GAME
Progression
Follow the lights. Find the missing.
How heroes grow: the experience each level needs, what creatures pay, how an area’s level sets its rewards, and where gold comes from and goes.
Levels
Each level needs more experience than the last. Every new level gives 3 ability points and restores your health and energy. Experience stops counting at level 50.
Reaching level 50 takes 3,672,083 experience in all. Creature rewards and quests are the main sources.

Creature rewards
Defeating a hostile creature gives experience and gold. Both grow with the level of the area it lives in: see Area levels.
Experience
Each creature has its own base experience, and tougher creatures are worth more. Every two area levels add 25% of that base. A creature worth 100 base experience gives 125 in an area for levels 1–2 and 725 in one for levels 49–50.
Gold
A kill pays 5–9 gold in an area for levels 1–2, and 2 more for every two levels above that. Bosses add 80. Each point of Luck then adds 1% to the total.
Items
A creature drops an item 65% of the time, plus 1% for every 4 Luck. A drop is equipment 35% of the time, with the same Luck bonus; otherwise it is a consumable such as a potion. Bosses always drop equipment.
Fighting together
Rewards are not split. When a creature falls, every hero who fought it in the last 30 seconds receives the full experience and gold, and rolls for their own item. Their party members share in it too. Each hero must be alive and within 16 tiles.
Rare and elite creatures
Raider bands can include rare and very rare creatures. Elite creatures are wilderness leaders carrying equipment, and the captains of an undead rising. Rare creatures always drop an item; very rare and elite creatures always drop equipment.
| Rarity | Health | Experience | Gold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rare | 150% | 150% | 150% |
| Very rare | 200% | 200% | 200% |
| Elite | 200% | 200% | 200% |
Rewards by area level
Health is the range for ordinary creatures, before rarity and carried equipment. Experience is a multiple of the creature’s base. Gold is shown before Luck and rarity.

Area levels
Each wilderness region and dungeon depth is meant for a range of levels. Its creatures give the rewards for the middle of that range, rounded down: see Creature rewards. Towns and homes are safe.
Some wilderness encounters have a level of their own, and their creatures give the rewards for that level.
Experience is a multiple of each creature’s base. Gold is shown before Luck and rarity.

Earning gold

- Party sites
- Each hero who helps open one claims 15 gold plus 4 per site level, with an item and experience.
- Travelers
- Travelers you rescue visit your home with news. Some of their replies offer 40 gold plus 4 per chapter level.
- Traders
- A Trading Stall in your private wilderness lets visiting traders pay 40 gold for each request you fill.
- Treasure
- Hidden caches and chests hold gold too, more in higher-level areas.
Luck adds 1% per point to gold from creatures, party sites and treasure. Each rank of Fieldcraft adds 15% more to gold from treasure caches.
Spending gold
- Repairs
- A town smith charges 10% of an item’s price for a full repair, less for lighter wear. A smithy in your home charges 50% of that.
- Home rooms
- Smithy, 250 gold. Runeforge, 1,500 gold: your smith also repairs enchanted equipment.
- Wilderness
- New land costs 250, 750 and 1,500 gold. Buildings cost 250 or 1,500 gold, with timber and stone.
- Faith
- Donations at a shrine unlock your faith’s passive tiers at 250, 1,000 and 5,000 gold in total.
- Bribes
- A gate sergeant removes up to 25 Outlaw per bribe. Each point costs 2 gold plus 1 per hero level. Each rank of Silver Tongue lowers it by 15%.
